When I first started as an intern at Boosted we were having problems with the can communication on the V2 skateboards that we had just started to ship. The problem was traced to fretting that was occurring in the connectors that are embedded into the deck of the board. To stop the fretting, we found that the connectors needed to be tighten more than was possible by hand. As the connectors were designed to be hand tight we needed a tool that was capable of gripping the connector better than a hand but with out crushing it. I developed a tool that was able to first be machined on our in house CNC to solve the immediate needs on the production line and then was modified to be injection molded and shipped out with every battery that we make for the boards.
